The band House On A Hill led by Johannes Karlsson (formerly Safemode) and wife Johanna started in 2020 as a worship collective. Johannes and Johanna both were active involvement in various worship contexts, and started to write and record their own songs. This turned out to be the embryo of House On A Hill. The band signed to the record label Adora, which released the first single in 2020 and subsequently both singles and albums. During 2023, they also participated in SVT’s (Swedish Television) program Gudstjänst (Service) as a duo.
After releasing several singles and the two albums “Sänd Ditt Regn” (“Send Your Rain”) in 2021 and “Förlorar Mitt Liv Utan Dig” (“Losing My Life Without You”) in 2024, the time had come to transform this collective into a band. The audience had grown and now requests for concerts began to come in, so the transition to a permanent band felt natural.
Johannes played most of the instruments on the albums himself and was the drummer himself, so he brought in some friends and former bandmates from the band Safemode: Robin Castañeda Segerström on drums, Tjet Gustafsson on guitar and Samuel Rye-Danjelsen on bass.
House On A Hill’s sense of accessible melodies combined with lyrics that feel genuine carries through their songs. The arrangement is a breath of fresh air in the worship context and oscillates between the familiar, modern worship service with heavy rock influences, to the heartfelt and more stripped down. All with a sincerity that is hard to miss.
