House On A Hill is a Swedish worship band that began in 2020 as a creative worship collective led by Johannes Karlsson (Safemode) and his wife Johanna Karlsson. Both had long been active in various worship settings, and when they began writing and recording their own songs together, the foundation for House On A Hill was formed.

The project quickly found its home with the label Adora, which released the band’s first single in 2020, followed by a steady stream of singles and full-length albums. In 2023, Johannes and Johanna also appeared as a duo on SVT’s national television program Gudstjänst (Service), reaching a broader audience across Sweden.

After the release of several singles and two albums — Sänd Ditt Regn (Send Your Rain, 2021) and Förlorar Mitt Liv Utan Dig (Losing My Life Without You, 2024) — the project naturally evolved from a collective into a full band. As the audience grew and requests for live performances increased, the transition to a permanent lineup felt inevitable.

While Johannes initially played most of the instruments himself in the studio, he later brought in friends and bandmates from Safemode to form the live band: Robin “Tjet” Gustafsson on electric guitar, Robin Elo on drums, and Samuel Rye-Danjelsen, a former member of Safemode, on bass.

House On A Hill is characterized by accessible, melodic worship songs paired with honest and heartfelt lyrics. Their sound moves effortlessly between modern worship with rock influences and more stripped-down, intimate moments — always carried by a strong sense of sincerity and authenticity.
