Noir/Blanc is bob K’s third album, produced by LA-producer David Larring (Kevin Max, Støy, Tommy Tokyo). The cooperation with Larring began after their common tour with Kevin Max (dcTalk) in 2010, when they also released the album Fragile.
Larring, who moved from Los Angeles to Oslo, where the album was finished. Like its predecessor, Noir/Blanc is all about Scandinavian-rooted, dynamic postrock, intended to fill the arenas. Larring has retained the grandiose live-sound, where he lets its bombastic melancholy, shimmering guitars, and adorning Rhodes-melodies, have featured prominently among his own retro sounds from both stylophone, sizzling synth basses, and mandolin.
The album opens with the singles The Escape and Burden, who then hands over to the catchy, melodic ballad Angel. From there on to Mayday – the album’s heaviest track – where the band and Larring manage the trick to unite glockenspiel with growling, without crossing the border into hardcore… Rest is another song, that stands out, with its dark drum loop, that stubbornly grind through the whole soundwave of emotionally loaded energy. When the last, distorted beat from Rest resonates, the listener ends up in closing song Forever, that with its peaceful soundscape through a swirling, magical discharge leaves a taste of both blackness and hopeful light…

Oh, hear me now
Don't waste my time
Come undone
Time is all running out
It's not too late
Still tonight
You can never reach me
I'm running with the speed of light
You can never hold me
I'll meet you on the other side
Don't give up
Don't give in
These words we give
These words we take
You can never reach me
I'm running with the speed of light
You can never hold me
I'll meet you on the other side
From now until forever
You stand here alone
Do you hear me tonight?
Can you hear me tonight?
Wake up now
You better catch up
In search of pride and glory
We're blinded by lies
But I have to keep on moving
There's no time to holding back

Change me into someone
That's greater than I am
Turn me into something
Bigger than you
Hold me like you used to
Free my soul tonight
Say you'll be here 'til
The end, forever more
Tell me that you're special
That I could be as you
Tell me you're my precious
The start of something new
Hold me like you used to...

I saw you standing there
So beautiful, I'm asking
Could it have been real
I saw you move with grace
And I keep thinking 'bout
The way you made me feel
And I pray
For a moment with you
And I pray
For this dream to come true
Are you an angel?
Another day goes by
Now you're far away
And I'm still here for you
Where did you go, my dear
Could it be that you're above,
watching over me?
And I cry
For a moment with you
And I cry
For this dream to come true
Are you an angel?
Keep looking for me
I may be closer than you think
You will find out someday
Keep watching the sky
I may be looking out for you

This is how it feels
This is what is real
I'm feeling weary
So tired of pretending
Life is real
More than I can see
When blinded with frustration
Somewhere it went wrong
Thought I was so strong
I'm far away
And I really need to come home
All I'm asking for
Is to reach the shore
And that things should be
Just like before
Mayday...
Keep fretting 'bout the loss
I didn't count the cost
If i keep on going
Bitterness will kill me
All I'm asking for
Is to reach the shore
And that things should be
Just like before
Mayday - I need you
Mayday - I want you
Mayday - I want you to release me
Mayday - I can't go on
Mayday - Without you
Mayday - I need you to release me

Believe it when you see it
Trust me when I tell you
Don't care about the others
We're lost in our dreams
Reach out for wisdom
Come touch this flesh and fire
I'm here if you need it
I'm here to fulfill you
I'm here if you need me
I'm here to forgive you
They offer you a million
I'd sell my soul for a dime
Reach out for forgiveness
Come touch this flesh and fire
I'm here if you need it...

Lay down dear child
Come find your rest
I hear your cry
Let me dry your tears
It's all right
Lay down sweet child
I'll take your pain
I'm close enough
Don't be afraid
It's ok
I hold you close
Now let it go
I hold you close
Stay with me
One beat, two beats, three beats
Where's the meaning in everything
You're gone, I miss you so
Give me strength to carry on
Until I meet you
Hold me close
Nothing's left to lose
Yeah
'til the end of time
Hold me close to you
Hold me close to you

In self deny
I spoke to God
But how am I to get through
I tried so hard
Like supposed to do
But soon I trembled and stopped
They made me king
Of everything
My Kingdom of nothing
I am the king
Of everything
Where's the beauty in anything
I cannot move
To petrified
Silence's screaming in my head
What if I'm wrong
Give me the words
I'm just trying to explain
They made me king...

A sweet goodbye
An endless cry
The bittersweet never ending
Close enough to fear
Too far away to feel
So numb but I can't hold you near
Amazing Grace
That's reaching out to me
Amazing Grace
Shine upon me
They keep hunting me down
I've got nowhere to hide
They keep hunting me down
Broken mirrors on the ground
Used reflections of my mind
I’m trying to let go
Just tell me where
Show me how it's like
And show me where to run
Amazing Grace...

Though I have a broken heart
I try to keep this dream alive
All those endless useless tries
I try to work it out even how
When my arms are feeling weak
You say that it's alright
When there's nothing left to keep
I find my rest here with you
But I have a broken heart
Can you fix it, please? Somehow
And i've got a worn out soul
I'm about to let it go
And my arms are feeling weak
But you say that it's alright
I got nothing left to keep
Then I find my rest here with you

Something that is precious
when all is made of gold
Something worth to save
when we throw everything away
All the flicks of illusion
in a world of delusion
Somethings last forever
Things that never fade
Don't tell me that you're sorry
There is always someone to blame
Don't tell me that it's all right
You know it's such a shame
Just let it go
